1965
In 1965, Charalampos Tsaousoglou bought the Xenia hotel in Corfu. His cousin Cleon Kedros of Trieste, a keen golfer, and his good friend Mr. Constantine Karamanlis, ex-president of the Greek democracy, suggested that Corfu needed a golf course if it was to become a high quality tourist resort.

And so he took action and bought a large area in Ropa Valley. Well-known architect Nikos Hatzimichalis, assumes the design of the Club House (made out of local stone) and Donald Harradine, the Swiss based golf course architect, is commissioned to build the course. In 1967 constructions commence and by 1971 Corfu Golf Club is ready to begin its operation.
1971
Anna Kedros, daughter of Cleon Kedros, inaugurated the course by driving the first ball. As a memorial to her father she donated the Kedros Cup, which is awarded to the winner of the Open Championship (held annually in May).
1970s
Tom Scott, former Editor of ‘’Golf Illustrated‘’ and founding member of the Association of Golf Writers, adored Corfu and did much to promote Corfu Golf Club. In his memory, the Club provided a special seat with a plaque and planted a tree in his honor at the first tee and holds the Tom Scott Challenge Cup for senior players during the championships. Malcolm Campbell, former editor of “Golf Monthly” and author of numerous golfing books, shares Tom Scott’s affection for the course and included Corfu Golf Club as “one of the 19 Greatest Championship Courses in Continental Europe” in the “Encyclopedia of GOLF” and characterized it as “One of golf’s best kept secrets” in “Golf Monthly Magazine.”
